After stitching Mrs. Claus,
I glued some faux fur on her hat and beaded a necklace for
that added sparkle. A Button on that dress would help also.
Miss Elfish is dressed in
green velvet. The necklace was beaded after stitching.
Miss Holly is ready for
a party with her zebra velvet dress. Adding a bead for
a button is simple, but affective, and of course she had
to put on some sparkle eye shadow!
Carol is always starting
a "sing-along". I added small beads on the earrings
and a small length of chain to her neck.
Miss Snow only needed a button
after stitching.
Mrs. Christmas is so elegant
in her silk dress and sparkly necklace made from glued crystals.
So appropriate for a woman of honor.
Another Mrs. Claus with
a red velvet dress and applique'd earrings. Adding a bit
of faux fur to the neckline makes it perfect.
Miss Holly is wearing a silk
dress with just a bead added after stitching for a focal
button.
This second Mrs. Christmas
has just the right color of hair. I found a soft off-white
velvet for her applique' and a few pearls for a nice touch.
I took most of the Faces
of Christmas designs and put an applique' dress on each
one, resized some of them, added hair...all to create
quilt blocks that fit the 5x7 hoop. Three of the 6 faces
I repeated and just chose different colors to give me
a total of 9 blocks for my quilt. These ladies were designed
for quilt blocks, therefore the bottom of their dress
is unfinished and slips into the bottom seam of each quilt
block (provided less bulk in the seam). The main thing
about choosing colors for your designs would be to find
the fabric for your applique's first, then blend thread
colors with your choices. Lots of fun. Directions are
given for each applique' design.
